AI is changing how we communicate, learn, work and access information. This welcoming, beginner-friendly program gives adults 50+ practical experience with AI while helping them understand its limitations and use it responsibly.
Choose the format that works for your community
Both options are free, beginner-friendly and combine expert guidance with practical demonstrations and individual assistance.
Complete Three-Session Series
Three 90-minute sessions, usually offered weekly. This format provides more hands-on practice, time to try AI between sessions and opportunities to return with questions.

Two-Hour Introductory Workshop
One condensed two-hour session for communities that cannot initially accommodate a three-week series.

No previous AI experience is necessary. The program is suitable for people who have never tried an AI assistant as well as those who have experimented with one but want more guidance.

AI Confidence & Connection 50+ is intergenerational by design. There are several ways to contribute.
Student Technology Guides
Patient high school and college students help participants connect devices, follow exercises and explore accessibility features.
Coding experience is not required. Students receive training and work under adult supervision.
Volunteer as a StudentExperts & Instructors
We welcome professionals and educators in practical AI, cybersecurity, fraud prevention, accessibility, digital literacy and responsible technology.
Experts may lead a session, contribute a focused demonstration or help review learning materials.
Volunteer as an ExpertCommunity Hosts
Senior communities, libraries, community centers, faith organizations and other groups can bring the program to their members.
A host typically provides a room, Wi-Fi, a display or projector and help reaching participants.
Host the ProgramBecome a Student Technology Guide
Student volunteers make the sessions personal and approachable. They guide participants without taking control of their devices or accounts.
Students will:

What to expect
A welcoming learning environment where questions are encouraged and everyone can move at a comfortable pace.
Bring a familiar device
Participants are encouraged to bring the smartphone, tablet or laptop they normally use. Learning on a familiar device makes it easier to continue practicing afterward.
Learn by doing
Each session includes simple demonstrations, guided exercises and time for individual assistance. There are no tests, technical lectures or coding requirements.
Stay in control
Participants enter their own passwords and decide what to share. Volunteers guide the process but never access private accounts or sensitive information.
Do I need any AI experience?
No. The program starts with the basics and is specifically designed to be approachable for beginners.
Which program format should I choose?
The three-session series provides the most complete learning experience. The two-hour workshop is a convenient introduction for communities or participants with limited scheduling availability.
Which AI tools will we use?
Sessions may demonstrate widely available tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini, along with voice and accessibility features already available on many devices.
Is the program really free?
Yes. Fifty Is Nifty offers this community learning program at no cost to participants.
Can our community host the sessions?
Yes. We welcome senior communities, libraries, community centers, faith organizations and other local partners.
Can students receive service recognition?
Students who complete the required training and volunteer commitment may receive a Fifty Is Nifty certificate or service letter.
